Hey,
im so damn confused, anyway im making a new computer from scratch and i am buying parts for it - i want my computer to be the best for gaming! Anyway i have a budget for £400! and i have found great parts but my budget has been exceeded and i thought that i maybe able to find a cheaper graphics card! AND GRAPHICS IS IMPORTANT because my computer is being built purposely for gaming! So i was going to buy this first "Point of View Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT 256MB GDDR3 560/1400 PCI-E, SLI" for £72 of amazon.co.uk! but while searching around i stumbled on this "Inno3D Geforce 8500GT 512mb" and it was £50!!! Yes £50! a 8 series geforce and it was 512mb! then searching around more trying to check if this card is actually cheaper AND IT WAS! which i didnt understand! Why is a powerfuller GPU cheaper then a crappier one??? and reading reviews, the Nvidia Geforce 7600GT cant really run Direct X 10 games - which these days most games are using! so i thought No, there is no point in getting this if i can play present games only! i need something to last me for the future, so the Inno3d 8500GT looked very good but the specs were as follows: -
Specification:
Product - Inno3D Geforce 8500 GT
Chipset - Geforce 8500 GT
Memory - - 256MB GDDR2 - is that good? GDDR2? is GDDR3 Better?
Core Frequency - 460MHz - is that powerful?
Memory Frequency - 800MHz - is that good?
RAMDAC 400MHZ
Interface PCI-Express
Memory Bus 128-bit
Stream Processors - 16
Max. Resolution - 2560 x 1600
SLI Ready - Yes
Output
1. Dual-Link DVI
2. HDTV
So? is that good? i think the Nvidia Geforce 7600GT has better core/memory speeds but im not sure, i have read a review on the 7600GT and it can be overclocked but it starts to lag with screens over 17" TFT which is quite crappy really! which is truly worrying!!! Someone with GPU expertise, and somebody with any of these 2 graphics cards please help! Also the 7600GT is GDDR3 and not GDDR2 does that make it better? does it improve something? What do they both mean! Someone help me out, im confused and have nowhere to turn to!?! What is better overall?

dont be confused by the numbers, the 8500gt is not really a better gaming card than the 7600gt is.
the 8500gt is aimed at the home theatre pc market, the equivilent card to the 7600gt in the 8 series is the 8600gts.
edit
to answer some of your other points.
right this second the only dx10 game out is Halo 2, you will also need to have vista to use dx10.
the 76gt does start to struggle at resolutions above 1200 by 1000 but it will give more playable frame rates than the 85gt.
gddr is like ddr, the higher the number the faster the speeds it can achieve.
in that price range you will not get a better card than a 76gt.

im probably going to use 1024 x 768 mostly, on a 19" Screen, are you telling me that if i play a game that has dx10 it will start to lag? Allot of lag, like monstrous lag, or just a touch drop in frame rate? Also if i get the 7600gt SLI and get a Motherboard compatible with SLI and add 2x 7600GT cards will i then be able to play dx10 games without breaking a sweat?

What is better about the 8600GT? Than the 7600GT either than it can play dx10? But the 8600GT isnt SLI Ready so if i want to add 2 graphics card what do i do? and i swear if i have a SLI Ready Motherboard with SLI Graphics card, the graphics will be extremely fantastic! And if a game like Lost Planet or Oblivion uses Dx10 does that mean i can only play them with DX10 graphic cards? or DX9 ones aswell? and if i use just the 8600GT will it be good as 2 7600GT Graphics cards? and adding 2 graphic cards does it increase the MB like 2x 256mb's and does it make sure there is less lag?
