I recently got a US version of Paper Mario which i know it needs a 2.2 update to play it and my console is currently PAL 2.1E, Ive been reading up that Mario Strike PAL gives a 2.2E update but i have played the game and i am still on 2.1E so i am not sure if i should chance Paper Mario and play it.

I stuck Paper Mario it into my Wii and it gave me the prompt to update but i cancelled it as dont want to brick my Wii, Does anyone know if it will be safe to play it or wait till a game comes out with 2.2E update? and i can update my console online because i do not have Wifi

You know, I think that one of the things that modders should have for this console is some sort of method to connect to the internet via the Wii. I understand that some people might not have wireless at home. Being a technophile, I do have wifi at home and at least 4 different devices that use it.

There are a few solutions for getting the wii online. One is to install a wireless network in your home. The second would be to get a Nintendo wifi USB adapter for your PC (or datel's version). There is also a USB LAN connector for the wii that datel and nintendo make. Getting you Wii online is a great feature (Mario Strikers WiFi Matches) and I would recomend it more then a work around.

But there is a workaround on the internet (for free). In fact it was talked about on this forum not to long ago. Someone created an ISO patcher that removed the manditory firmware updating from games. So, you would rip you US copy of SPM onto your PC, download the patching software, patch the SPM ISO, burn it and play.

Do a search. It can find just about anything here :-)

Super Paper Mario update was a 2.0 firmware update so it would not update your system since it is already a 2.1E firmware.

@bass_hit

I will search for that thread your talking about that will rip the update off a game disc. But if you happen to run across it again could you post the link here. I would like to take a look at this program.

Update: I couldn't find the thread here but I did find the program link on the below link...

I still wouldn't let your Wii firmware become outdated.

I sure wouldn't trust this program 100% when it comes to possibly bricking your Firmware by a out of region firmware update.

Your taking a huge chance by thinking since this program took off the update then I should be safe. Because if it actually does not take it off then your going to be up S**T creek.

So I would still keep my Wii firmware up to date.
