I don't have a Wii yet, but I have quite a few NTSC-U Wii backups and will be buying an NTSC-U Wii at the end of June.

I have a Gamecube already and am not planning on playing backups of Gamecube games on my Wii.

I was wondering if I should just go ahead and buy a Wiikey and have a pro install it, or should I wait for the Team Xecuter version?

I'm asking this question because I only have NTSC-U backups, and will only be getting NTSC-U backups in the future to play on my NTSC-U Wii, and will not be playing Gamecube backups on my Wii. I'll be playing homebrew as well.

Should I still wait even though I have NTSC-U backups and will only be playing Wii games by just buying a Wiikey, or should I wait for a better chip?

Thanks for comments and advice. I really appreciate it.

From what I've read, that Wiip2 is susposed to be THE chip of all chips for the wii.

If all you're doing is playing same-region games on your wii, either would suffice.

But now that you have the opportunity to see if the Wiip2 is really as good as it seems, u can read it's reviews, price compare, and go from there.

Team Xecuter are very good at making chips and i have no dout there chip will be one of the best... my only problem with it, is that they seem to say they are developing a chip so that you dont buy any other one and wait for it... but then take a long time to bring it out... and it really anoys me.... if you are just going to play NTSC-U backups on your NTSC-U and dont care about GC games... its all about whether you want to wait...

im in the same position as you... except for PAL (and i dont have any backups yet :D just got my LG drive :D) but yea i think im jsut going to go for the Wiikey... it does everything i want at the moment and in the end.. if the update ever comes.. it will be a plus

a thing to keep in mind... if you use the wire install method.. its alot easier to remove if you want to swap for another... you could pay someone to install the Wiikey... and if the Wiip2 does turn out to be that amazing and the chip of all chips... then consider paying to get that swapped in for your wiikey...

Thanks for the advice.

Yeah, I think I'll do what you said Zane. I'm getting the Wiikey professionally installed, so he'll know all about soldering it into the Wii.

And if worse comes to worse, I'll just buy a new chip in about 2 years (there will obviously be much better chips in the future... look at PS2) and get that one installed and be done with it.

Heh, yeah, I have all of my NTSC-U backups ready to go... getting the Wii in about 2 weeks and then getting it installed right away.
