Techincolor FLVs?

while this might sound like a file request...it isn't

I recently tried the flv/ffdshow trick,and got a few flvs to play in mpc(mediaplayerclassic)...joy I throught.

Until about a week ago when I decided to mess with everything and completely uninstall my codec pak(k-lite mega 1.38 or something it was),but keep MPC and gspot(by copying them to other folders) and then needing to reinstall windows (I'm running windows 98 btw...)
and now whenever I play a flv in MPC it either works some but has well strange colors(blue looks purple,black looks yellow,etc. just think of it as the tint on your tv being messed up) or MPC tells me I need a flv spiltter AND a few other things like a AVI spiltter (this is during FFDShow and gabbest's 1.02 OPC FLV Spiltter installed)

so what am I to do? Find some flv player or figure out how to encode it to a htm file in order to watch various kept "clips"
find a solution to all this and answers to a question...like how come there's a FLV.ax AND a FLVSpiltter.ax(of a different size then gab's) even after uninstalling most codec-related things?

or the "hard-but-easy-way-out-when-somethings-wrong"
Format everything and start off brand new from scratch...and hope a few weeks from now I'm back online[note I rarely format at all and don't like to...and have no intension to "do the latter" =P]
