Howdy,

I have a small AVI file that plays properly in Windows Media Player.

I burned it to a DVD with Nero, but when I play that DVD, the audio and video are out of synch (by about a second) making the DVD useless.

Other DVDs play perfectly.

What might cause this, and what might be the solution?

Sincere thanks,

Kenneth

VsoDivxToDVD is best at keeping things in sync when converting AVI.

http://dl.afterdawn.com/vsoDivxToDVD_setup_v0.5.2b.exe
Import the file(s) (AVI, MPEG, VOB)
Output (standard DVD file format) to a folder on the HDD.
Set 'Aspect' to 4:3 (if you have a regular tv)
Set 'Standard' to NTSC (if you live in North America)

Burn dvd with 'ImgBurn'

http://www.imgburn.com/

Run ImgBurn
Mode > 'Build'
Output > 'Device'
File > 'Browse for Folder', highlight on the 'VIDEO_TS' folder, > 'OK'
Click the green write button.

Howdy,

I am very appreciative or your suggestions, and will certainly give them a try...

That said, I have a few related questions (and, as is probably obvious) I am no video jockey, so be gentle <g>:

I have a DVD (it happens to be of a TV show) and want to edit one of the episodes very modestly then putting the result on another DVD. The modification consists only of removing the first 2 minutes, and last two minutes, of the episode.

What software might you suggest to do that sort of simple edit?

Is there something in Nero 7 Ultra that will do the deed?

My plan was to start with the original DVD, from it, generate a file of that episode minus the two pieces. And then burn the file to another DVD.

Is that the right approach? And, if so, what sort of format is best for the intermediate file? I had arbitrarily chosen AVI for my initial experiments with this process, and that was the source of the synchronization difficulty that I described in my original post.

Very sincere thanks, once again,

Kenneth

Rip the DVD to a folder

DVDFabDecrypter
Insert disk, run program, select 'Main Movie'

http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm
Load the files from the folder into DVD Shrink

DVD Shrink
http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/
Download, install and run.
'Open Files' choose the folder with the DVD files.
Click 'Re-author'
Drag 'title 1' from right to left side of panel.
Click on the 'Start/End Frames' logo (two arrows pointing each way).
Edit the movie.

Click 'Backup!'
Output to a new folder and burn with 'IMG Burn'.

If you wish a menu you can bring the VOB files into Nero Vision and burn it that way.

Hi again,

I did locate the download, but wanted you to know that the link you provided:

http://209.172.35.173/download/DVDFabHDDecrypter3108.exe

seems dead...

All the best, and thanks again,

Kenneth
