DVD-R Backup Plays on APEX Player but not Sony

Hello,

I made a backup of a DVD-5 by imagining the entire disk onto a Pioneer DVD-R disc. The DVD-R plays both in my APEX and SONY DVD player. Then I made a backup of a DVD-9 disc onto 2 DVD-R discs. The discs play flawlessly in the APEX but not at all in the SONY. It can't be the media type since the DVD-5 backup plays in both players. Please advise. The layout of my DVD-R includes two folders: AUDIO_TS which is empty and VIDEO_TS, whose contents look like:

VIDEO_TS_BUP
VIDEO_TS_IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_02_0.BUP
VTS_02_0.IFO

Please note that all DVD-R discs play in PowerDVD on the computer.

Yeah, Apex and other Chinese (yeah, Apex Digital is American, but the players are made in PRC) brands are extremely _BAD_ reference players when testing VCD/DVD-R/SVCD as they are essentially PC's with funny box -- they have DVD-ROM drives with IDE cables and stuff inside :-) I used to have Apex AD-600a and the drive broke down and I managed to replace it simply by swapping it to new Toshiba DVD-ROM :-)

Anyway, so.. If the movie plays with PowerDVD -- doesn't tell anything. If the movie plays with Apex -- doesn't tell anything. If the movie doesn't play with a player using same media you have successfully used in the past, it tells that your copy process has went wrong at some point.

Can't really help more, but wanted to point out this anyway :-)
