Hello all, I am the newblit here first post just registered today.

I apologize in advance if my question is in a thread, I did search. I have read many of the guides here and am still a bit lost.

Home built comp:
Mach Speed msnv 939
AMD 64 3.7
2 gig DDR ram
windows xp pro
Drive:
Plextor PX-800A
Media:
Ridata 8x DVD+R DL
TDK 16x DVD-R
Software:
dvd-cloner IV ver4.30 build 918

I am trying to back up a movie. I tried to make it originally on the db5 DVD-R i have, but couldn't because of the size. No problem, got the DVD+R DL. Did the read and burn without issue, put it into the dvd player and "dirty disc" message. checked the disc and its fine.

First disc was in read i/o spti. While typing this I just finished the second burn, did this read in read i/o aspi. Just popped it in the dvd player and it works fine.

My question is did it not work the first time because of my media? read i/o? Or was it something else?

Even if no one answers me cause it's a repeat Q I want to say thank you guys for an excellent forum and site. I have trolled this site over the past couple of years every time I have had an issue and always found the solution here.

Hi and welcome to the site. The one thing that jumped out at me from your post was the mention of DVD Cloner IV. I don't know of the program but i do know we have a few threads on this fake or substandard software, for example -

edit- and DVD Cloner 3 - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/317895

There are sufficient free & paid programs which are awesome & simple to use.

I swear by DVDFab HD Decrypter (free) - http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm (check there weekly for updates) followed by DVD Shrink, then burn with burning program of your choice.

As to DVD Cloner it would appear it's a waste of time and money.
