I haven't used any TY discs for PS2 games, yet, but Verbatim and Maxell 8x MIJ's have both been very good for me.

Have you tried the Imation discs or have you been "made aware" by the stories you have heard? The only way to find out if those media are compatible with your drive/PS2 chain is either to try them or post the MID code as well as the model and firmware version of your drive so that someone else who HAS tried them can tell you what happened. If someone told you that chocolate ice cream tasted terrible, would you avoid eating it or judging for yourself. In your case, it sounds as though you have already bought the ice cream. Try it.

xtclovaa - let's not resort to name calling; in fairness Joe provides excellent indepth info for our site, but unfortunately detracts from that sometimes by defending some media/companies more than is necessary. I personally have had dire results & problems (over a 3year period and am now having major problems recopying from some of them but i digress) with Imation write-once discs, though i do use their -RW discs occasionally on my Pansonic DVD recorder and they work fairly well in there.

However back to the topic, i wouldn't ever touch a write-once Imation again even if it was free, but that's just me (and my company's customer data which isn't secured very well on the Imations but IS now on the Verbatim that we now use instead. (And we checksum each and every dataset we burn, and there's 3 copies of each and every dataset, takes a lot longer but at least we know we have intact data - we only do 3 copies of each due to the data corruption from the Imation - from day one; we always burn in Linux and checksum on Linux and Unix servers but i digress again). What i won't do is recommend what discs are suitable for a PS2, a) because i don't do PS2 burning, and b) because there's already a wealth of info on this site about what discs are recommended for PS2 burning - like this one for example, which just happened to be in my inbox - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/240341/3012271

xtclovaa--

I overlooked the spelling mistakes and the odd grammar when I tried to answer. You state below that you have Imation discs. You did not state that you used them. You did not state that they did not work. We are not mind readers here. We can help only if we have enough information. (I'll overlook the insults, too.)
