I bought an LCD HDTV from Sharp which was quite a pretty penny compared with my old 20" standard TV. I've been concerned with what I can do to make sure that it lasts as long as possible and I was wondering about power consumption. I use the TV as a computer monitor and for watching TV so there are periods where I wonder if I should turn the TV off or leave it running (for example, when I take a shower for 15 minutes). Would it be better to turn off the TV for the 15 minutes I'm in the shower or will leaving it running not wear out the TV. I've heard something that constantly turning off and on the TV causes it to wear out faster, just like with a car.

In short, for brief periods of inactivity, should I leave the computer running or turn it off and then turn it on when I'm active? Any help appreciated.
