Wiid RecoveryMode?

The wiid is advertised as having a "recovery mode".
Does this mean it can recover after being bricked by the wrong firmware (aka "the paper mario bug")? Has anyone tried this?
I have a PAL wii, but would like to play NTSC backups, but im terrified of bricking my lovely wii!

Recovery mode most likely refers to when the Wiid chip is being flashed with new firmware; it may not update successfully. Then you may go into recovery mode to recover from this bad flash. Recovery mode refers to recovering the chip, not the Wii. I do not think it will prevent your Wii from being bricked if the wrong region disc is inserted and update is performed.

That would make an incredible feature though. If rockman and xecuter can come together and make a wii brick proof I'd surely replace my chip. In thinking about it they could make the media unrecognizable this would prevent bricking. Obviously you wouldn't be able to change the string when the game has already been burnt.

Why leave it up to a Modchip to protect from a region brick?

Yes it would be a nice feature but if you brick your Wii it isn't because it couldn't have been prevented without a feature like this..

1) Keep your Wii up to date with newest firmware.

2) Use Wii brick Blocker to disable the update that comes on game disc.

Thats true too. I check for a firmware pretty much everyday..... Doesn't take long and gives me peace of mind that I wont brick/partial brick my wii.
