I bought a Wii in china (as I'm living here at the moment) and every single game I buy is burnt or a copy, hell, my Wii came modded out of the box.

Anyway, I've been trying to burn a copy of Ikaruga to play, both PAL and NTSC versions, but both are having problems. They'll boot but the PAL version has black flickering lines at the bottom and freezes half-way through the first level. The NTSC version has no flickering but freezes at the beginning of the first level.

This isn't random freezing and I've tried different CDs, anyone got any tips for me?

Could be the modchip that came pre-installed on your wii. Open it up and find out what kind of chip is in there. There are known issues with GC backups. You will first need to know what kind of chip is in there so the community can better diagnose your prob.

Every single "store bought" backup I've bought works. Just this self burnt one. I don't think there would be a problem with the .iso or .gcm in 2 of the files. That's just plain unlucky.

I think it's a Wiikey, as I've tried out the setup disk to change the settings of it, and it's worked.

OK, I'm starting to think It might be the DVDs. Here's why.

I tried playing Ikaruga again, after another burn, but I noticed in the rolling demo it doesn't freeze in the place in normally would, and the difference is there's no music playing. So I try training mode (which has no music) and hey, no freezes. Then when I went back into single player mode it hung again in a different place, but instead of freezing it just went straight to the black and white error screen.

I'm going to try Killer 7 when the download finishes and see what happens with that, and if it hangs I can be pree\tty damn sure it's the DVDs. Now, if it is the DVD what would you guys recommend? I've tried Sony, Mitsubishi and Power Star (generic china) but it's very possible that the Sony and Mitsubishi DVDs I bought are fakes too...

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Just tried Killer 7. Things were looking good (or bad) and then it froze just as Ikaruga which is great. So, what media can you guys suggest?
