Howdy, y'all. I feel that as not enought people have discussed this already, it'd be worth looking at again. Here is a scenario; I am keen to hear the community's thoughts...

1) Mr. X has a WiiKey in his shiny PAL Wii. He goes and buys Super Paper Mario (for instance).

2) He has the nice 2.2E firmware, and feels confident that he should be ok putting aforementioned disc in the drive.

3) He puts the disc in. Before he even gets to the Disc channel, a message box pops up saying "Update availible" with an Ok box beneath it. "Cancel" & "I don't think that's a good idea" aren't choices.

4) Concerned that clicking "Ok" might be an expensive choice to make, Mr. X ejects the disc and continues to enjoy his Wii, albeit with one less game than he thought he had.

Now, my questions are -

a) Does this message box appear on other user's Wii consoles when they insert a disc under similar circumstances?

b) Does that happen every time one puts in such a disc?

b) If Mr. X were to click "Ok", does the message box simply go away and allow him to play his nice game, or does it treat him to an expensive new door-stop? What happens next!!!

Despite considerable research, no-one else seems to have mentioned what to look for, so I'm left wondering what to do for the best.

Kind regards,

Acquiesce.

From what I understand:

If you "bought" Super Paper Mario, it should work unless you bought an imported American version.

Even if this is so, from my understanding anyways, the firmware update on Super Paper Mario is 2.0, since you already have 2.2E, it shouldn't even bother you about an update and you should be able to play it.

You didn't research much since there is a thread and guide on this that has been stickied at the top of the Wii forum. Plus this is discussed on a daily basis so there are plenty of threads on the subject as well other then the stickied thread.

wouldn't it have been so much easier to actually read a little bit instead of trying to write your daily question in a creative way so as to not get reemed for it, and possible try to make us seem as if this hasn't been asked before???

I'll stop complaining. You did write it clever.
