OK, well I've read in one or two threads here and on websites that Strikers is region specified for online play. Does this mean that the Wii is actually doing the region specifying or is the game doing it? Being that everyone in America that plays has a PAL version i find it hard to believe that 20000+ Americans play it online. Also, i did a friendly game with someone in California, my connection during that game was the best connection i've ever had online. I'm thinking that the game is the region because of these things I stated. I just wanted to see if anyone actually knew what was doing the region specifying.

So are you saying its occording to the game? If so and you are using a patched version of the game. Roughly how many people would you say play in based on the rankings.

That is incorrect.

People in North America are playing the PAL version of Mario Strikers.

Mario Strikers release date is next month for North America.

I live in North America and have a NTSC(U) Wii and played a few Online random play games with the PAL version of Mario Strikers.

So it is not region specific.

Ok, this is what I thought. But I've read a couple places from legitamite sites that it is. Maybe it is. It's hard to tell though with not knowing where people are from that are playing. I THINK it's more than likely region specific to the game disc and not the console. That is the only way I see it being true with the number of people that are rated online. But then again, it MIGHT not be.

...........

then again...could the modchip scene be so big that there are actually 20000 plus users in America with this exact game and online capabilities? If so I can only imagine the number of modchips that have actually been sold in the US.

Grkblood's head is hurting from all of the possible conclusions at hand*

I've tried other PAL games and they didnt work unless I wanted to use the wiikey setup disk, which I never even bothered to burn yet cause I dont need it. Just cause a game doesnt come out for another month doesnt mean its not out yet. I've seen plenty of games get released wayyy earlier than they were suppose to. Including Halo 2 I got a month & half before it even came out in the U.S. That was a PAL version though.

Let me guess you downloaded the Mario Strikers NTSC Vortex version. You didn't have to do any patching to it because Vortex did the patching for you and slapped it up on the torrent sites calling it an NTSC version of Mario Strikers.

That upload caused a horrible mess for allot of NTSC(U) owners. That upload states it is an NTSC(U) version even said it was riped from an NTSC(U) Game Disc but that was false. Vortex region patched the PAL game disc to NTSC(U) and labeled it as an NTSC(U) upload.

This is why it was possible for the game disc to play in your NTSC(U) Wii without the Region override being turned on.

Your lucky you had your Wii updated with the latest firmware because others had their NTSC(U) Wii semi-bricked due to this Vortex download. To bad this was the way people found out that it was actually a patched version of the PAL game disc and not a true NTSC(U) source game disc.

It had the PAL update on the game disc still and semi-bricked the Wii settings due to flashing the Wii to 2.1E firmware. To prevent this always keep your Wii updated to latest firmware.

I belong to a few torrent sites and have yet seen a retail NTSC(U) source game disc of Mario Strikers uploaded yet. So again members are using the PAL or patched PAL to NTSC(U) version of Mario Strikers.
