And I went to resources and then it said: Setup disc v1.2 (Universal PAL/USA/JAP - see readme)

I was just wondering what that is for and if it is mandatory? And what about the 1.0 ones too?

Is the real site.

v1.2 (Universal PAL/USA/JAP) is the most recent setup disc release.

I would recommend downloading and using the 1.2 version instead of the lower versions.
