Is there a different install for the Wiikey on a Japanese Wii? I heard that the six solder points on the motherboard are different than those used for the U.S. console. Ive searched online but have yet to find a true answer. Can someone please help?

The points are the same on the Japanese consoles. I didn't even need a tri-wing for mine

Thank you for the quick reply. Have you had any issues using your wiikey on your JP wii?

No problems so far. The only thing you have to be careful about is bricking your wii. Some games check for updates. If you play an out of region games (for example an american version of Paper Mario), and your Wii isn't up to date (right now 2.2J), it can mess up your wii. You can also get around this by installing Wii Brick Blocker HERE and patching every game you burn with it. Good luck :)

If you have a newer Wii model the motherboards have changed. Nintendo has cut 3 pins from the IC chip on the new boards.

If you have 1 of those Wii systems you can not use the original 3 soldering points to install the Modchip. You will need to somehow solder to the 3 pins that where cut from the IC chip. (There are other links off the linked page below that shows you how to solder to those cut pins)

Below is a link for further information on this issue.

I finally received my wiikey to install, it worked initially where I saw the Gamecube screen. I set the setting and saved. Reset the Wii and thought I was set. I popped in an American game and nothing happened, except for a big question mark. I tried to the setup disk again. Went through the entire process and tried the same disk again...still nothing. Being determined, I put in the setup disk once again, but this time it is no longer recognized. Can somebody help me figure this thing out. I'm becoming extremely fustrated with this entire process. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
