AdvrCntr2 error message--Nero Home--Vista

After installing Nero 7 on a new computer running Vista I had several messages of software incompatibility. From the Nero website I downloaded the update that was Vista compatible. After installation, every time I started Nero Home I would receive the option to update Nero. If I clicked on the update I would get the AdvrCntr2 error message window saying that the update could not be started. After closing all message windows Nero Home could be started normally. I got rid of the annoying message by running NeroHome.exe as administrator and in the Windows XP SP2 compatible mode. Nero Home now starts normally but I cannot test if it will update. Please let me know if this was not the way to handle it.
