I've been looking and searching for a good way to play backups since I discovered my cousins huge set of PSX games and so far, have come up with a few things.

1) The multiple swap method: So far, this seems to be the only viable way of playing PSX backups, but it seems very tedious, and not at all practical. I haven't even had a chance to try it.

2) I read that I could swap the trigger disk, then return to the PS2 browser screen and it'd have 'Playstation disc.' This has worked, but after I select it, the PS screen comes up, and it stays stuck there.

3) Breaker Pro seems to be the only way of playing easily, except it costs money.

4) Swapping the trigger disk using Cogswap doesn't work, as it doesn't load the PSX game...I think Cogswap was specifically designed for PS2.

Are there any other ways?

Use an app called PSX Launcher. It's like the Swap Magic of PSX games and you use uLE to run the app. Then do the normal things you would do (it has on-screen instructions) to run a backup the swap way. It works with me and many others.

Not sure if I'm allowed to post the URL so I'll keep it safe and not. Just search PSXLAUNCHER.ELF in google and you should find a source for the file.

Thanks for the response, but after looking it up, it seems that only works on V9 PS2's because they don't have a 2nd check on whether the CD is legit when the PSX bios are loading.

Apparently, the V1-V8 PS2's have a 2nd check when the PSX logo pops up, and the PS2 realizes it's not a legit PSX CD and freezes.

Sorry didn't notice that.

BTW for method #1 you posted is it executed like this:

1. Insert original PSX disc with high toc (game disc that uses at least 640MB) and wait till it comes to the PSX Logo.

2. Use you're flip-top (or slide card if you're fast) to switch you're disc with the backup before the logo goes away.

3. Game should now load up.

If that's what you're talking about, yes it is tedious but it works perfectly.
