If it's an oem most don't come with all the apps that Nero offers.
The one app you need to 'make my own dvd' is VisionExpress (Nero 6).

You can try installing it and see what happens - the serial # is what tell Nero which apps you'll have access to.

High quality will take a bit longer. (See pic below)
You might want to save it to the hard drive instead of burning then checking the quality and audio. If all ok then use Express to add and burn the video_ts folder.

Do you still have the wmv file? If you do use that instead. I think converting to mpeg 1st w/ something else then using Vision might be why the audio is crackling and video is bad.
I'd save it to the hard drive also to check it 1st.

Oh and one other tip w/ Vision - right above 'disc info' you'll see a box next to 'create chapters automatically'. Check that box if you want to be able to hit 'next' on the players remote.

Having the quality setting set to High may make it bigger then will fit on a single layer dvd (higher bit rate=larger file) so if you get a message saying something like too big for a single layer go ahead and change it back to automatic - using the wmv file you may just be fine with the settings set to automatic.
