just installed vista and the video quality isnt that sharp. i played some hd trailers i downloaded and its not up to scratch.
here are some photos of the quality. its quicktime.

also some of the vista images and desktop icons are not sharp aswell (but were before).

HD Quicktime stuff would be AVC/H.264, so DivX won't help. I'd be thinking more video drivers.

i just had XP on and it was all fine. when i upgraded to Vista (on the same pc) its gone all distorted so its probably a setting or file that i need to install
