I have a Sony DRU-83A 18x burner. I've been burning using DivXtoDVD version 1.99.23.66 (I didn't like the Nero program that came with the burner.)

I've been fairly happy with the results of my burns until I tried to burn an rmvb file which DivXtoDVD didn't like. So I used SUPER to convert the file to AVI. I left all settings at the default (choosing DivX as the final codec), converted to AVI & then burned the file as usual.

The problem is, neither of my dvd players like the DVDs made from these converted avis - they say "incorrect disc". One of my mother's dvd players will read it while her other one won't.

I've read around & I see now using Memorex dvd-r's is a bad idea. I'll shop better in the future but I don't think the brand is the problem as my player can handle all my other burned dvds. I've also tried changing my settings to burn at half-speed with no change in results.

But, since the dvd's work in some players, I'm wondering if maybe I need to tweak the settings when I convert the rmvb to AVI. I would just convert them to VOB in SUPER or try using Nero instead of DivXtoDVD but these files have softsubs which VOB & Nero don't attach.

Any suggestions?
