Hello people, I'm new to this playstation 2 games. I might sound like and idiot here. I have a question if anybody can help me. I would greatly appreciate that. I have a PS2 that I just purchased 2 days ago model# SCPH-77001 (Slim) and I would like to play with my back up games. I made my research and I ran into this PS2 HDXtreme sofware, can anybody tell me how to install this before I buy the software? Is it you need an external hard drive connected to the USB in PS2 and load the software from the PS2? Please give me a step-by-step instruction. Thanks in advance!

Firstly you need to get a modchip for your PS2 .
So you can download a much better software called USBAdvance from
http://www,sksapps.com

OR
If you don't want to mod your PS2 then you will be stuck with HDXtreme->USBXtreme which has real bad compatibility and other issues.

MODCHIP RECOMMANDETIONs WOULD BE >>
1. DMS 4 PRO/PRO SE (High end)
2. Matrix Infinity GREEN DOT(Mid-high end)
3. CrystalChip PRO (Mid-high end)
3.Duo 3 Gold (Mid-low end)

Reply with further queries for question yet to be answered.

Thanks for the information, I'm just affraid to install a mode-chip because this is very complicated for me. I guess I just start we HDExtreme then I move up from there. I already ordered the software, and I play around with it. On my understanding that you need an External Hard Drive and plug it on the USB drive on the PC and load the HDExtreme software. Then load the games into the the HDD and after that plug the USB HDD in the USB drive of the PS2? Any more suggestion? Thanks!

Did you get the PC application which transfers games from PC to USB HDD.
If you have then
Install it. run it.
Insert DVD of the game OR its Image and
follow step thereafter as shown

I would have suggested getting a MOD installed sfter warrenty ends by a proffesional. and then theres a much better program as said in last post.

Here is a disgusting guide on how to do it.
http://www.hdadvance.com/usb_extreme_how-to-use.htm

OR HERES THE APP which makes it very easy
http://www.sksapps.com/hd/USBInsane.zip

Also REGISTER@SKSapps.com for as they offer best stuff for PS2 around the world for FREE.(I am not advertising agent if you r wonderin)

Thank you sir! I already installed that client software on HD advance and bought an external hard drive, infact I have bought External hard drive twice because the other one is not compatible. I already installed some games on it but as you have mentioned before there's a compatablity issue with HD extreme and some of the games doesn't work. I'm going to jojn that website that you have just mention aboved. Let me ask you something, that games that you can download on torrent, how to transfer that on the hard drive or make it a CD or DVD? It looks like there's a whole bunch of files on it? Thanks again!

Games in torrents are most probably .iso or image files. Often
cut down in small compressed .zip or .rar files and usually have extensions like .r01,r02,r03....and so on.
So what you have to do is make sure to all these fifty or so(May be less for smaller games...usually 49 or so) files
are in one folder And them open any one of those files make sure you have Winrar(Most common on torrents) installed.
So now there is usually one Image file in there.(.iso,.nrg,.mdf,.img) Extract that file.

Now using USBInsane
upload that image onto HDD. Or you can get Damemon Tools from here (Which allows you to create Virtual Image Drives to fool comp to think theres a DVD drive hooked in when there isn't) and set the image as Vrtual DVD and use USBIsane to upload the game to HDD.

Chk this site to know which games work, wont work or stumble.

Ask If you did'nt get me..........:)

And if you just wanna burn image files of games then open them with Nero or UtraIso and burn em on High Quality Media (Sony,Verbatim)
@4-8x but you will need Modchip to play them.

I apologized I just got the chance to check this forum. It was my final exams and now it's finally over. Then next week summer term starts.

You give me a lot of idea right now. So, I put the files on one folder and only open one of those .iso or image file right? I'm going to download some of those games.

Another thing, that HD extreme some of the games won't play is there a patch on it to make it play? I transfered it using a client software from HDadvance to HDD. Out of 36 (approximate) games only 24 played. Thank you again sir!
