Help me with my Cyclowiz v2 Install.... About to go insane!!!

Ok I purchased two cyclowiz v2 from an online retailer. I have 2 D2B Wii's.

Unfortunately I have NO idea what firmware is on the Cyclowiz by default. I know they require V3.0B before any media will play on it. So what I did at first is soldered it in quick solder without the switch and just tried to see if the unit would boot up with a backup. It did not and I noticed sometimes when I turned the wii on the chip would be flashing green and then sometimes it would be solid green.

Then I decided to go ahead and install the chip but not install the reset wire. Once I did that I kept trying a backup game and then I tried the programming disc. After about 25 tries I was about to give up but I decided to burn the programming disc on a different media.
I originally burnt it on HP DVD+R and then I burnt it on Phillips DVD-R I tried that about 10 times inserting it with the switch in all different positions and on the last try it got to the programming stage. I about Shi* myself thinking it would work and it had me verify the switch a few times and hit the reset button and then it went into programming and then into verifying and then back to programming back and forth about 15 cycles and it kept doing that. I read you should try it about a dozen times before re-trying. So then i restarted the console and tried updating again but then the disc wouldnt boot!!!! what the heck could the problem be?

Cyclowiz's site isnt very helpful in showing how you should upgrade it.

Should the switch be on or off when trying to upgrade?
Is there a sequence I need to try on the chip before starting the procedure?
What firmware are on the chips by default if any?
I do have to upgrade right away since I have a D2B, right?
It is 100% necessary to install the switch on the Wii to upgrade?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
