i've got hundreds of tapes i want to convert to dvd. i chose a dvd recorder that could burn +R DL discs, because they could fit about 11 hours on them. when using said disc in the vhs/dvd recording combo (a samsung dvd-vr330), the resulting content had an approximate 1 second audio/video sync problem. why is this, and is there a way to remedy it? i returned the component to the store and the tech guy said that this happens when recording to +r dual layer on any home entertainment component. is this true?

i am currently going through the computer to do this, but i don't like the results compared to a single layer dvd recording component that works.

NO its not true. have you tryed a SL on the same machine? also Verbatim DVD+R DL are recommend

i'm sure a single layer will work fine. however, i want to put one 6-8 hour tape on a single disc without sacrificing too much quality, and that's just not possible with a single layer disc.

are memorex +R DL not any good?

Yes Memorex DVD+R DL are ok, they will code out as Ritek

bilbo65, i wouldn't say that .the Ritek is second tier media but still good. Verbatim would always be the best choice though

How could you have much quality when you're copying a VHS tape that has 6-8hrs on it. It was recorded at the worst quality possible speed to get 8hr on ONE tape. JM2C
