Either something is conflicting with your DVD Decrypter causing the system to become unstable or else DVD Decrypter is corrupt. There is a new version out which is downloadable from afterdawn.com

The same is probably true of DVD Shrink. I had a similar problem in Beta 3 version 3 and downloaded a fresh copy fo Beta 5 and it worked great.

Use some different software to rip the movie, like SmartRipper or use AnyDVD in conjunction with CloneDVD. If the same problem persits with the different software, then it is the windows driver files which may be corrupt!

I just tried backed it up with DVD Decryptor 3.1.7.0 (ISO) and DVD Shrink 3 Beta 5 (Movie Only with end credits removed) and neither had any problems. Is this a new DVD that you're trying to back up? The only times I've had problems ripping with DVD Decryptor have been when my kids handled the discs or when it's a used one I bought from a rental place.

That is true!

I had the same problem when my sister picked up the DVD on its surface. When I tried to back it up, it would not read properly or I would get read errors.
Try and clean the DVD and see if this helps.
