What would happen if I sent my modded Wii in for repair to Nintendo?

I have read a few threads of members doing this. All Nintendo did was repair the Wii and returned it without the Modchip.

I think Nintendo keeps the Modchip and sends it to their crime lab. They will see if they can lift any fingerprints or DNA from the Modchip. If they find that type of evidence they send it to the District Attorneys Office to help bust you.
