Hey guys...
Quick question for you all..

What on earth would cause a wiikey to stop working?
I brought my wii to the shop after a botched install on my part *doh*
He fixed it up, so I got it home...
plunked a Verbatim-R @ 2x speed... worked no problem. (boot disc)
Also checked a Memorex @ 2x Speed... worked no problem (boot disc)

Yesterday when I actually had a chance to try a backup of my WiiSports... nothing :(
I hadn't done anything different over the night, it wont read the boot discs now either.

Any ideas?

Same thing happened to one of mine after trying to play Paper Mario (and YES I had 2.2E loaded before I even thought about it). Still have no idea why it happened, the old suddenly not working wiikey thing had been reported a few times, but as of yet no consensus on the cause or a solution. Some people have suggested reformatting the Wii, others suggest you check the connections to the chip with a multimeter, but for me that was to no avail :( Sorry I couldn't give you any good news.

hrrmm...
formatting the wii?
would that really do it?
I mean mii's can always be re-created...
i'm only 20% done in "the Biggs", so its not like i'd be loosing that much data.

can anybody else shine some light on this subject?

update...

formatted...
no dice.

is it possible that the wiikey is kapoot?
I have tested all the connections... directly from the wiikey to the onboard chip (so that means the soldering is good).

How else can I troubleshoot this?

thanks again for any assistance guys/girls :D
