I am planning on purchasin a Wii and modchip, but before I make this investment, I want to make sure I am well informed going into this decision. I have been reading through many threads regarding the Wii modding scene and now consider myself pretty well versed in this area. Its not really that complex and I have experience in the PS2 and PSP modding scene. However, I have a couple of "loose end" questions and concerns that hopefully you guys can help me with.

After reading through many threads, I seem to get the impression that the Wiikey modchip is one of the best modchips to get. They bill it as futureproof since it has a true update system via DVD, etc. Am I right? Should I purchase the Wiikey, or is there a better modchip out there?

With the Wiikey, you can direct boot Wii and GC backups, but you can still play original games as well, right?

What does it mean when they say that the Wiikey has a "stealth mode"? I've read that it means that it is undetectable but what exactly does this mean? Does this "stealth mode" have to be activated to run at certain times only, or is it always "on"?

I am planning on either purchasing a premodded Wii, or having the instalation done by somebody. Drmodchip.com offers both of these options; has anybody done this through them and can vouch for their legitimacy and authenticity? I really don't want to be duped for my money.

Hi Velago, Stealth mode basically means that the signal sent from the DVD drive with a chip to the Wii is exactly the same, down to the last byte of data, to an unmodded Wii. This means that at the moment the Wii console has no way of detecting whether the data it is receiving is from a modded or unmodded DVD drive because it is identical, hence it is called 'stealth mode'.
