Hey all, I enjoy this forum and the knowledge here. I am hoping to get a hopeful answer about my WiiKey Install. I just installed my wiikey using the wired method. Everything looked clean, no bridges, enough solder to cover points ect. put it all back together and when i went to power it up, it would flash blue and then die. I then disconnect power and plug in again, turns red, push power, flashes blue and dies again. I have no clue. I dont think i burned any traces or nothing like that so i have no clue whats going on. I guess I will take everything off tomarrow and put it back together and see if it starts up *crosses fingers* I did buy this off ebay and didn't plug it in "before" attempting the install so I hopefully it wasn't broken out of the box :-/ being that it was used, but stated obviously like new condition so i highly doubt it was the seller but Me :-/ Any suggestions would be great.
Okay, just make sure that when you redo everything, YOU CHECK EVERYTHING!!! I had that same problem, and I tried to solve it, and it FRIED the Console! So just make sure you check everything!
So how I know if it didn't fry it already. And when you says "check everything" i pretty much did this this time, checked all my points and made sure nothing was bridged or touching each other etc. and this happens. Really sucks if i fried it already and didnt' figure I did to much damage compared to some stories i read on here and theres was still salvageable. Thanks for the suggestions though

That might be it! Althrough the wire i got is what i purchased with my wiikey from the mod shop so I would figure they give you the stuff they use to install chips? But it is very small guage wire. It is pretty long to about 3 inches each one, is that to long? I mean if thats it thats great cause thats better than a fried console :) So today ill try the quick solder technique and see how that works.
Well looks like all went well. I redid the install and from a closer inspection i found that one of the dvd prongs was bent, so i fixed that and did the quick solder method. Everything is running like a champ now. Here is a look at my first wii mod :-/

I couldn't get one of the power/ground points to stick so I had to fill the hole thing with solder and it finally sticked. I didn't use wires for points 3-6 like that guide shows. I just added a small amount of solder to the points "prior" to placing the chip on the board.
So basically add solder to all points 1-6 on the wiikey. Then solder small wires to points 1 and 2. Place small amounts of solder on points 3-6 and then place the chip ontop of points. Solder points 1 and 2 by bending the wire over while heating the solder on the wiikey and cut the excess. Then for points 3-6 just carefully heat the wiikey point and work it down to the main board and when they are both heated they kinda just suck together if you do it right. Just be carefuly to not bridge them or put to much solder on the points, you really dont need to much, just enough to cover the small points and they are tiny as you all know.
Just take your time and check everything. I screwed up first time doing wire install, but i think my main flaw was I bent a connection on the dvd connector which i later found when pulling it apart. If you got anymore questions just let me know.
