Hi,

Im considering purchasing a Wii but I will like to use backups online. I know this is possible right now and it'll be difficult/impossible to predict what nintendo will do but based on previous experiences with the gamecube, did they start banning consoles (like Xbox) or administor strong security on newer games (like PS2)? Did they even do anything and whats your opinion on what they will do agaisnt the Wii?

TBH it would suck for me if i loose online gameplay by using backups so would rather just use originals. But would like to know before purchasing your opinions.

Many Thanks

this has been discussed before but to answer ur question they will more than likely be able to do nothing b/c they dont have a way to detect it. now if they did then I think it's pretty obvious from there standpoint on modding that you would be banned.

My question to you though is why would it suck so bad for you to use online gameplay with the Wii? The only good game with that capability right now is Strikers. Unless you're some die hard pokemon fan its not that big of a deal.

My advice to everyone with this concern is to re-evaluate why you even want a Wii. If you want online gameplay this bad your shopping for the wrong brand. *cough, XBox, cough...*

I've currently got a banned 360...lol
Was considering the PS3 but because of its price in the UK compared to US; i'll be waiting for furthur price cuts.

So Wii seemed the only way to go as i cant see the point in buying another xbox 360. I've been banned, tough luck for me, but im not buying another! Hence why i thought Wii now and it looks kind of funky.

Also i've heard that playing online will be up and coming for example Mario Kart will have online play. Excellent fun because tbh i cant see you playing the Wii by yourself agaisnt a computer for too long before it gets boring!

the Wii will NEVER have the online capabilities of other consoles. It just won't. I would honestly say buy another 360 and sell the one you got if all you want is online. Plus, haven't they updated the firmware hack on the 360 so it can't be detected anymore? This weekend I'm flashing my friends.

Anyways, you should think of online capabiities for the Wii as an "added bonus" b/c it's def. not a key factor.

Hmm thanks for the heads up, will look much more into it.

Regards to xbox, yes ixtreme firmware is out allowing online stealth playing. But as always microsoft will detect and block in the end (be it months or years)

I disagree with all of those just nodding off the wii's online capabilities. I play strikers online and it's an absolute blast.

I hear that games like brawl and mario kart will be online as well, which is just going to be a ridiculous amount of fun and a nice breath of fresh air and break from all those damned online FPS/MMO games.
