I'm extremely confused about a problem I'm having burning movies with Nero Express 6.The P.C. is a compaq presario with about 700mb of ram. It takes me anywhere from 8 to 10 hrs to burn a movie how can I fix this issue? I have all the settings for speed on my dvd burner set as high as possible, but it still takes a long time to burn. Everyone else tells me it onlt takes them an hour or 2 tops. I shut off my internet and disable my antivirus and this still makes no difference any suggestions would be great..Thanx

You can post a log of the last burn.

http://my.afterdawn.com/locoeng/blog_entry.cfm/385

Also, run Nero Tools > Nero Info Tool, click the 'Configuration' tab and look to see if 'DMA' is on for the HDD and the DVD burner.

Is the top part of the log missing.I can't see the firmware version.
Here's one here, it looks like your burner.
I never seen a burn that long before.Does cutting that speed back to 4x change anything?
No one at Afterdawn would countenance 16X.
If you save the output to the HDD, can it burn faster with the likes of IMGBurn?

Run ImgBurn

If that's the same drive, it's a few versions behind.But I don't see KS05 listed as a previous version.

You have Roxio installed, it clashes with Nero, to remove, run this zapper http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

Your DVD burner LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S has firmware incorporated into it.
Firmware works with the Nero to improve burning rates and media recognition.
The link below is to the Liteon site, search for the drive model number and decide whether you wish to install the firmware.
http://www.liteonit.com.tw/global/index....pper&Itemid=154

Your Nero serial numbers are listed in your log under the heading I indicated.
Use the little 'pecil¬epad' logo on the right side of your post to edit it out, lest someone steals it.

All logs should be that short.
If you use Nero Express you can make the next burn a 'simulation'.
Just before clicking the button that starts the burn, use the side menu (little arrow left/centre to select the speed and simulation)
You place a blank in the drive but there is no burning - saves disks.

Here's the simulation button in Nero 6

It's supposed to convert AVI files, that's its job.
(although your Nero 6, so it's called Nero Vision Express)
They changed the name for version 7.
