i would like to know what the best dvd r discs would be to get them to play in most dvd players.... i bought some memorex and am regretting it, they will play in my 2 dvd players but not in any of my family members..... if you can help me, that would be great....

someone told me maxwell plays in alot of dvd players but i dont know..

Quality DVD disks say 'Made in Japan' on the wrapper.
If you can't find them, then 'Verbatim' brand are very good.
Also, when the disks are burned at a moderate speed (4x) then there are less chance of burning errors.
The other factor is, do the DVD players prefer DVD+ or DVD- disks?
My personal experience is that more DVD players accept DVD-R than DVD+R, but that can only be checked by looking at the players manual.

If you can find Maxell's, that are made in Japan, you will have excellent disks.

Yes what attar said !!!! Verbatim is probably the best of the Branded media's currently available - By branded I mean That they have the Brand name on the media & The package ! But if you can Find made in japan Sony media or even rarer Made in japan Fuji media then These should code out as Taiyo Yuden Media & That's most members 1st prefference ! Otherwise again the Japanese maxells are also excellent as attar said earlier ! IF you want taiyo yudens the easiest route to get them is to order online ! But Verbatims are equally good and available locally most places !
