I have a Ripped DVD, someone else ripped, Plays on one of my DVD players but won't play on a newest acquired DVD player, Samsung HT-X50.

When I try to play the DVD, the player says "Playback Prohibited"

I found an obscure line in the Users Manual that it doesn't play pirated dvds! How can it tell?

Should I try to re-rip the DVD? Or just forget about it?

Sure it isn't a PAL disk in an NTSC player and maybe has the region code not matching the player?

Definitely not a Pal disk.

Open it with DVD Decrypter.
It will say it has region protection (or show them all if it has been ripped) and if it has CSS.
Although CSS shouldn't mean anything to the player, it checks region coding.

Maybe your player only reconizes DVD-Rs and this one is a +R....

No luck with the format
DVD player accepts DVD-R
and the disk was DVD-R, I'll get another DVD player and try that way.
