I have a Ripped DVD , someone else ripped, Plays on one of my DVD players but won't play on a newest acquired DVD player, Samsung HT-X50.
When I try to play the DVD, the player says "Playback Prohibited"
I found an obscure line in the Users Manual that it doesn't play pirated dvds! How can it tell?
Should I try to re-rip the DVD? Or just forget about it?

Sure it isn't a PAL disk in an NTSC player and maybe has the region code not matching the player?

Definitely not a Pal disk.

Open it with DVD Decrypter .
It will say it has region protection (or show them all if it has been ripped) and if it has CSS .
Although CSS shouldn't mean anything to the player, it checks region coding.

No luck with the format
DVD player accepts DVD-R
and the disk was DVD-R , I'll get another DVD player and try that way.
