Free or not... I don't really care. I have nothing on this iMac, so I'm willing to spend a little.
What's your favourite program, what's it do, and why is it?

I use Toast 8 alot to burn stuff.
Front Load NES, DreamCast, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, MacBook Pro (w/ Laser Etching), iPhone 8Gb (w/ Laser Etching)

Constantly open is Toast 8 titanium Ichat Msn skype new safari beta fetch azureus frostwire too many more to mention but those are ALWAYS open on my macbook.

NeoOffice is a pretty good office app (word, spreadsheet, etc) - FREE
iWork 06 is excellent. It has a PowerPoint killer and a pretty good DTP/word processor - Less than $100 legit
Cyberduck is a great FTP program - FREE
Adium is the best IM program, does Google, MSN, AIM , etc. - FREE
Nvu is a decent WYSIWYG HTML editor - FREE
Inspiration is a really great mind mapping / visual organization program, I think it's like $70
VLC is the best media player - FREE
The GIMP (X11) is a great photo/graphic editor, like Photoshop - FREE
Toast Titanium is the best burning / backup program - I have no idea what it costs ;)
QuickTime Pro and Perian are essential for video transcoding and basic editing - QT pro is $30 and Perian is free
