Setup 1.2 after modding

I mod my Wii, I had the one with the cut legs on the chip, now it reads the setup disc and I am able to go to start, hit it and it arrive at the menu for configuration ( I think this means that the chip is install right ) but at that point I am loosing my remote, they turn off and it's no way to turn them back on, which means that I cannot do anything, I tried to load a backup of one of my game and it says cannot read disc, but it read the configuration disc perfectly, I am assuming that I have to setup the chip first, but I can't.
Is it somebody that knows what to do.
