I am trying to join avi files, first using VirtualDub 1.72, then VDub-MP3 discussed in another AD forum. Have failed about 10 times now. Usually the two audio files have different sampling rates & I haven't figured out how to make that work.
When I do find two files that VirtualDub combines without nag screens, they play fine in the computer but after d&d & save to DVD the audio is off again.
All help will be greatly appreciated.

In VirtualDub, the files must have the same Audio Stream data Rate.
If they are off (one is 127kbps and the other 129kbps)then you get the error message.

To fix this recompress the audio (if it's 48000, 131, stereo re-save as 48000, 128, stereo).
Leave the Video as 'Direct Stream Copy'.
Do this for both files - so you have two new files.

Now you can load and append both files (keep both Video/Audio as Direct/Direct) and save.

If you find the second half of the joined file is out of sync, do this.
Load the first (new) file.
Clip a few frames off the end.
Save it Video/Audio Direct/Direct (no recompression).

Reload this clipped file and append the second 'new' file and save Direct/Direct.
Everything should sync.

Thank you, attar. This is what I thought I was doing. With more practice I now can get the two audio files to match-PCM 48000Hz; is that the right move? The second half of the file still has audio out of sync.
I understand what you are saying about clipping a small part off the end of file 1 & using it as a new lead in for file two but I have no idea how to do it. Will prowl the guides for instruction.

Thanks again. I will play around with this until I get it to work.
Greatly appreciated.
