I know the speed is 4X, so thats why its probably so cheap. But since its Verbatim, and I've have good experiences with Verbatim, im interested in them. But, my question is, will these DVD-R's be useful only for home videos or will I be able to burn data/personal games on it aswell without problems?
Not sure the technical answer here, but IMO the "pickiest" scenario for my DVD-R's are for movies which play on DVD players. I've never had any problems with playback on my computer wether it be games, data, movies, etc. One issue with cheaper discs may be the longevity...data may not last as long with cheaper ones. Again, I'm no techie, but this is the info I've gather. All the cheaper discs I buy or if I get a bad bunch of discs I use for data backup mainly. Hope that helps.
There is no difference between data and video DVD-R media. The Verbatim DigitalMovie DVD-R will work just as well for data or games as it does for movies.
Hmm yea, i thought the same. I guess its just another way for them to make money.
Im trying to spend as little as possible, but still get decent/good quality media (not the cheap No-Name disks with like 50% failure).
Anyways, here are my choices ->
For CD-R:
1) Kodak 52x 80min 700MB CD-R for $6.49 (http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=014007&cid=719.499)
2) HP 52x 80min. 700MB CD-R 50-pack for $12.73 (http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=007850&cid=719.499)
Im leaning more towards the Kodak, since its cheaper, and I don't need 50, 25 is more than enough. My question is, is Kodak decent/good quality media?
For DVD-R:
1) Verbatim DigitalMovie DVD-R 4.7GB 4X 25pk Spindle for $5.99
(http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=014004&cid=719.88)
2) Verbatim 16X DVD-R 4.7GB 50pcs/Spindle for $16.65
(http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=010867&cid=719.88)
3) HP 16x 4.7GB DVD-R Spindle 50-pack for $14.69
(http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=009740&cid=719.88)
Again, I'm leaning towards choices 1) and 2). Iv used Verbatim 16X DVD-R's before, and they work perfectly for me. But the HP and DigitalMovie Verbatims are much cheaper. Not sure what to pick.
I've been using the Verbatim DigitalMovie DVD-R for certain things and so far haven't had any problems. (For things I want to archive, tho, I use the Verbatim 8x with VideoGuard. These discs work great and Best Buy carries them for US$12.99 a pack. Unfortunately, they seem to only come as a 10-pk with jewel cases included. Just wish they came on a spindle. But I'm not a heavy-duty burner so for the time being, I'll pay the price and the cases come in handy.)
