I'm kind of new to all this 'quality of brand' DVD stuff, so do bare with me.

I've been browsing through this area of the forum and have noticed that many people are saying Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim discs (-R and +R) are the best ones to use on a standard PC DVD-RW drive.

Basically the question I want to ask is, should the same principle be applied when using them on a household DVD Player/Recorder (you know like a Panasonic DMREX77)?

Also I would like to ask, are Ridisc -R, +R, -RWs any good?

Thanks in advance.

If you look at the manual of the dvd recorder it should list a recommendation of the manufacturers you should use and with what type of format too.

however taiyo yuden and verbatims are still probably the most compatible brands out there.
i have a toshiba recorder that doesn't recommend TY's but thats what i use and have never had a problem.

The Panasonic DVD recorders I've tested work very well with a number of 16X media recorded at 1X. Those tests did include Ritek's DVD+/-R media with both Ritek's and Ricoh's MID codes.

My Humax (Tivo) with it's built in DVD drive burns Verbs & TY's just fine. Even did great on Sony's media plus Ritek. But then the drive is software limited to 4x....
