My xbox is softmodded with evox and it seems to have a power problem. When I play a game it will sometimes shut off or if there is vibration or if the case is tapped it will shut off. I think it may be a failing power supply. I did try to hotswap it over a dozen times before. The cable to the power supply is fine. I was wondering if the evox softmod made the xbox unstable, but it no one else had this kind of problem I suppose it wasn't the softmod. The Cdrom drive works fine, and the hdd works fine. I wiggled some of the cables to the motherboard and hdd and there seems to be no problems there. If I wiggle a cable that moves the psu board it will sometimes do it. I don't see anything loose on the board. I am mainly thinking it was doing too many hotswaps, but I am not sure how they affect the psu. If anyone knows that the psu is going bad I will just replace it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm, definately a strange one.

My suggestions would be to completely dismantle the console, I mean everything! Chack all parts and then re-assemble.

Theres a tutorial on how to do it fully in my tutorials...

Well I put it back together since I didn't want to break my mobo, i will have to try again, but it was tough to get out because of the network adapter port and video port. I think i have it narrowed down to 3 things:
1-The psu is going bad.
2-There is corrosion on the mobo.
3-A wire is loose or hitting somewhere shorting it out.

Well I fixed it. It seems that one or few of the psu's solder points were touching the metal part of the case, causing it to short out. I put 2 pieces of cardboard in and fixed the problem. Thanks for your help though chunkhead. You have a great guide.
