if it has the right plug on the end it will maybe make your battery last a bit longer but it won't charge it much.

There are adaptors you can buy that have outputs from 15-21V on them adjustable. Perhaps you can buy one of those? That's what we use.

I use a power inverter instead of buying a bunch of car adators for all the stuff I have.

It's a reasonable way of doing things i suppose, if you don't mind keeping one in the car. A cigarette lighter adaptor is usually a lot smaller than a power inverter.

Oh dan I forgot. Yes that combo will power your notebook but not recomended. After all there is a reason your notebook wants 19V. You should know the milliamprage (MA) though. Even though it is 12v it could have to many MA causing wattage to be to high for the notebook. It is rare that would case an issue. Safe than sorry. After all a new proper adapter is far cheeper than replacing the system. Ebay is good to fix that.

Overall in my OPINION. Your system will run. If damage is being caused it will not be sudden. Can take months and months before anything is noticed.

Actually no, if the mA is high there's no problem. The adaptor shouldn't force as much current as it can provide regardless, it'll just mean it's not being used 100%. if the mA is low is when you get the problem as you could burn out the adapter.

del, better to have too much wattage then not enough. it is the lack of voltage or amperage that can ruin a pc not to much amperage. volts x amps = watts

Well, essentially, if it only delivers 12V it won't really do much, but if it has a box on the end that can increase the voltage to 19V then it will work fine.
