Joe, this could be a common problem friend... When you have D/L your files are you burning them to a quality disc? are you burning them at LEAST HALF the rated media speed?

Give us more info on what you use and how you use it. Are you using Nero or IMG for the burning? etc...

There are two burners that come to mind and these are the USUAL SUSPECTS. NERO and IMGburn.

As for Free, IMG comes in first and then a close second comes Nero, but Nero is either an installed program(when you bought the system....OEM) or you can purchase Nero and all it's attributes or persevere with the basic edition( like me)

IMGburn is a freeware app that has an enormous respect between AD members. DVD's are no problem to IMG by the way Joe. So recapping your needs, it seems that IMGburn might come out the winner. Your thoughts?

IMGburn is available via AD forums here...

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_so...ols/imgburn.cfm

Nero isn't freeware Joe. It either comes with the machine as a basic system, or is available to buy as an ADD ON. In my VERY personal view, it ain't worth the hassle...

I don't mean to dog on Ahead software, but for all those users that do like Nero please accept my sympathies. :)

Now that you have D/L IMG, the question of burning between two drives (optical) IS NOT RECCOMENDED! If you INSIST with burning "on the fly" then burn at speeds no faster than 4X.

DO NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE ON THE PC AT THIS TIME. (no web surfing or using other programs)

When it comes to READING then do this on an external drive, burning should be done on an Internal drive. You'll get less problems.
