I went to buy Verbatim DVD+R 16X 50 count. I happen to look at the label and all of the 50 count on the shelf said made in India. Then I looked at the 100 spindle and the Lightscribe and it said Taiwan. Are these still good as long as there Verbatim brand or is there a difference? Are Verbs not made in Japan anymore?

Thanks,

Czarman

My understanding is that Verbs are made in Taiwan and in Singapore. This is the first I have heard about made in India disks. May have to drive dwn to the Verbatim Headquarters and find out why.

Moser Baer in New Delhi manufactures Verbatim discs also, using MCC stampers. Some members prefer not to use these discs, but I don't know exactly why. The MBI factory is one of the most sophisticated disc factories in the world, and some of their products are excellent.

Yes, I too have seen Verbatim DVD+R 16x made in India. I will NOT use them, no matter what anyone here says. I KNOW the made in Taiwan & Singapore work Flawlessly. Why change?
"If it isn't broke, it doesn't need fixing".
Why take a chance with your hard earned money when you know what works? The made in India may be fine, but I don't take chances like that.

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

i've used Indian Verbs, have had very good results with the older 8x -R variety, i can't remember the exact media codes now. Anyways, as to the 16x +R you have there, they'll be MCC 004. I once bought half a dozen or so 50count tubs of the Indian 16x +R MCC 004 as they were a steal at £5 a tub. They've given me mostly good results, a few of them fail in the burn process now and then but luckily all the ones that have burnt without error have played/recopied fine without any problems.

blivetNC- My understanding is that Verbatims Singapore Plant is strictly Doing The DL Disc now so that Any Single layer Singaporean Vebatims would most likely be old stock ! I agree with the if it ain't broke don't fix it school of thought myself too !!!!!!!!!

Thanks BIGTOXY69, I have well over 1000 successful burns with Verbatim DVD+R made in Taiwan. If anyone can match that with Made in India Verbs, post it.

bunnyrip- Yes My friend India Is known for many Things and The Indian people excell at Many of them , Medicine , Movies ( BollyWood ) Their Movie industry Dwarf's Hollywood ! Spices cooking , Beautiful Indian women ( I mean that Respectfully ) any many other Numerous things ... But To my Knowledge Making DVD Media isn't one that they are known for ! I confess to never having used Indian Made Verbatims Or even seeing Any But With The Taiwan Made ones Being so excellent and reasonably priced (on sale of course !)Why reinvent the wheel ? I have seen some Moser Baer Oem'ed Tdk Media at an Walgreens or CVS But passed on it's purchase ! Media-wise I tend to stick with a Few familiar Brands /Mfrs. - Verbatims -Taiwan made, Sony's Either Japanese made( Taiyo Yudens ) or Sony Made Yes There are some Sony Blanks made in japan That Code out sony!) , SonY's Made IN taiwan !, Taiyo Yudens either Online ordered or Under the Sony or Fuji Brand , Ritek's Either Under The Officedepot Brand or branded as Maxells ,Maxell Made In japan Media , And Ricohjpn Media often Sold under other Brands name such as Officedepot or some TDK media ( Older stock) and That's Pretty much the short List In no particular order ! IF I were to put them in order of Preference It would be something like this 1. Taiyo Yuden ( Either odered online or Under another Brand name like Fuji /Sony ect...!, 2. Verbatims ( Taiwan) about equal to Taiyo Yudens in my use . 3. Made in Japan Maxell's also excellent !,. 4. Riteks - In 8X & 16X - Mostly purchased as Maxells or OFficepot Media !. 5. Ricohjpn media - Mostly Officedepot Branded and one 100ct spindle of TDk DVD+R 4X that I burned through without any problems !!! - Actually That Pretty much describes My Leaning Tower of Media LOL! That's what has worked for me & I tend to stick with what works !!! But everyone has their own opinions & equipment so something different may work for them ? More Power To them & Happy Burning to all Regardless Ciao!!!!

BIGTOXY69,
Your list of "Trusted Media" compares to mine. No Coincidence either, these are known good media. Why would anyone use anything else? Maybe it works for them. That's great! As for myself, I use what has consistently proven to be Top Quality Media! By the way, the Made in Japan Maxells are scarce as Hen's Teeth! So are the Made in Japan Sony's! I lucked out last week and found 6, 50 pack tubs of Genuine Made in Japan DVD+R 8x Sony's! I cleaned the store out! They are YUDEN000 T02! Taiyo Yuden!

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

bunnyrip- You done Good !!!!! Keep it up and we'll have to get You a Ghillie Suit and declare you an Honorary sasQuatch LOL! To be Honest The Japanese Made Maxells Are Really Scarce here Too !!!! But like you did with The Sony's I occassionally Find a Spindle or 2 Here & There ! or a smaller Pack as well ( IN Jewel Cases)- The Sony's are almost as scarce as the maxells ,Perhaps moreso ! With Sony I've gotten to where I still Look for The japanese But will Take the Taiwans if I can't find them! I think That Other Than Ordering Online The Bestway to get/find MIJ Media is to Prowl the Stores That though They sell CDR 's & DVD Media don't have a lot of Turnover in their Stock - Usually that means Stores Like Walgreens & CVS ect... And to a lesser Extent Walmart Too ! But other than walmart Those stores often do not put the Media on sale often & The media they do have tends to be in smaller Packs @ Higher Prices ! I have also Noticed That for the Maxells MIJ that you can look for The Inkjet Printable 25/30? Ct. Tubs and these are often MIJ disc ( Read The label) Though as mentioned Earlier they very rarerly put these on sale ( Best Places to look for The Printables = Walamrt & OfficeDepot ) atleast here where I live anyway !!! Officedepot generally has them or Did last I checked ? And we could always buy online But that takes some of the adventure and thrill of the hunt out of it!!!! Don't you think? Anyway bunnyrip!!! Congrats on the find & Keep up the Good Work Later On Pecan !!!!!!!!!! CiaO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch out for Verbatim slaes at Meritline.com
They sent me the 16X DVD+R made in India. I've had no prob with the MIT version and thought that was what I was getting. Would not have bought if I had known they were sending me Made in India.

If you don't mind the Made in India Verbs, you can get a 50 pk. of the Verbatim +R DLs, at Sam's Club, for a little over $60.
