Hi. i just got a new computer, with windows vista. i setup azereus again, and now i get nat errors. i have disabled windows firewall, and windows defender. my router is a linksys WTR54G. i have set up the ports using portforward.com. on my old comp, i used to get speeds of 150. now, using the same client, and the same torrent, i get 30-50. its not bad, but i know it can be better. i have set the azereus port to 65535. when i test is using the NAT tester in azereus, it says:

Testing port 65535 ...
Unable to test: Invalid port given, or test service failed.
Another application may already be using this port..
(Error: Connection refused: connect).

i know for a fact the no other application is using port 65535. i also tried other ports, with the same error. whats wrong?

thanks for helping :D

Error:
Too many successive failures occured on port 65535, UDP - processing abandoned. Please check firewall settings for the port to ensure that it is enabled for receiving connections.

Since you followed portforwarding.com on the router setup, I assume it is set up correctly.

It may be the port number you have chosen. A port in the range 49152-65534 is suggested. Port is Blacklisted. I looked at the IANA port list and it says "The Dynamic and/or Private Ports are those from 49152 through 65535".
So, I am guessing (I don't understand this all that much) that 65535 may not be viable for Azureus. I don't know why else they would stop the suggested numbers at 65534. Like I said, just a guess.

I'd also point out that your router is on the Bad Routers page. You may have to limit your max global connections. But that is not the issue now.

just tried the NAT test again, new error:

Testing port 65534 ...
NAT Error - Connect attempt to 71.30.165.182:65534 (your computer) timed out after 20 seconds. This means your port is probably closed.

help?

I think you need to configure your router with the router ip address rather than your pc ip address. Your router ip address should be 192.168.1.101. I looked it up here.

portforward.com says to use my computer static IP, which is 192.168.1.136

what is happing to you is exactly what happened to me I was messing around with the ports and next thing I cant get decent download speeds and that nat error would not go away.... I tried uninstalling azureus and re-installing it but it did not change. I switched to U-torrent and back into the 200-500 kbps definetly not a bad program. the only thing is that some people think u-torrent is untrustworthy But I live in canada and are filesharing is protected from lawsuits.

As you have Vista, this page at Linksys with a listing of Windows Vista articles may help.

ah! i think i may have spotted the problem. my modem is a router, so i think i have 2 layers of NAT to go through. i saw some people saying that i could bridge connections between router and modem. i check my router and modem sites (the ones beginning with 192.168.etc), but i see no option for bridging.

my router is a linksys WRT54G.

can anyone help me with this?

YES! Fixed the problem.

Turns out i was under 2 layers of NAT. so i configured my modem to forward the uTorrent ports as well. Now, the check says that the port is opened, and my speeds are back to 100-150. :D
