Is there a way for me to take an iso of a PSX game, convert it in such a way that I can burn it to a blank dvd-r and use swap magic 3.6 dvd to play it?
Sorry, but no that's just not possible. There is a trick method though. Boot your PS2 to the browser screen, and insert an original PSX disc. Now wait till it shows on the browser screen then use the slide tool (you must have a thick PS2 to do this) and slide the tray and take out the disc (ignore the sounds the laser makes at this point) and put in a backup of a PSX disc and slide the tray back. Wait around 5 seconds then
press X on the PSX Disc on the browser screen and the game will boot up.
For the slimline, go to youtube and search how to cover up contacts on ps2 or something like that, and insert a psx game with the lid open, wait for the playstation lotgo to come up and swap discs from the original to the burnt, they don't have to be the sme game, the legit game can be something like crash bandicoot and the burnt can be spyro and it will still work

I dunno man, when it shows the screen between ps2 memory card, and psx disc, click the psx disc, then pull out the tray?
Will this mess up my laser? This noise you speak of worries me.
Well, how did you get the image for the backup? Did you download it? What brand of CD did you burn it to? What speed did you burn it at? If you ripped it yourself, what speed was the read speed selection set at?
After the playstation logo shows up, the screen turns black for about 8 seconds, is this time that you have for swap the discs.
Don´t forget to burn the games at the lowest speed, if you have "clone cd", you can burn them at 1x, all that is burnt over 4x isn´t good.
Don´t buy crap media, the good brand media is not that expensive.
