I have an movie avi file and 2 srt files with it and I want to burn it to DVD, can anyone tell me how to do this and what's the best program. I have Nero and VSO software,convertXtoDVD, Shrink, thanks.....ed
ConvertXtoDVD is simple.
Load the AVI file, highlight the file in the window, right click on it and add the .srt file.
Repeat for the second .srt file.
You can use 'Settings' > 'Subtitles' > 'Text Subtitles Rendering Settings' to get a preview of the subs might look like.
Well I did what you said and it sure seems right as it shows up as external subtitles but does not play in my DVD player with subtitles at all, any ideas as to what I did wrong.thanks..ed
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean, the output folder after encoding is a video-ts file which you can't play. I can play the avi file with the srt file in the same directory but no subtitles are there...if this is what you mean. When I did what you originally said I can see the external audio language loaded in the menu of xtodvd, but when burned ,,,nothing...
By Media Player, I mean the likes of VLC.
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Run VLC, click 'File' > 'Open Directory' and find the folder that contains the output.
When the video starts playing or when dialog begins, click 'Video' > 'Subtitle Track' and choose your sub.
you can also click 'File' and 'Open Disk'.
When running on your standalone player, click the 'Subtitles' button or locate the subtitles from the menu.
Below is a file I converted today.
It is converted for a NTSC4:3 TV using the default settings.
Note that the subs are in the blackletterbox area (because I have a 4:3 TV).
This exactly how they appear on my TV.
BTW, if the .srt file has the same name as the AVI file, ConvertX will load the sub file in at the same time you load in the AVI.
(it does this without telling you and might cause confusion).
