ok well i got my younger brother a beginners computer.. well beginners to me here are the specs COMPAQ Evo P4 1.7GHz 512MB
now its got some vanta video card it in. my younger bro (hes 11) is a SIMS 2 FANATIC lol he loves it and has all the expansion packs and all that stuff. well i went ahead and installed his games (after installing xp pr0) they are SOOOOOOOOOO SLOW when you try to play them. they take forever to load and when u do get to play the game trying to move the camera around and all that stuff is like a snail.
my question is what is a good video card that will run the sims 2 fast and efficentally without these slow downs.
any help would be much appreciated!

Eugene, it looks like he is using a nivida 32meg or maybe a 64 meg card whether pci or agp i don't know.

intheb0x, what is the model # of that evo to see what the specs are so can tell you what card might work on it as long as it is not a laptop. the card for a desktop will either be a pci or agp but not a pci/e card.

You need to be careful with AGP 4x, because there were different voltages. Did the games run OK before? You make it sound like they did before putting XP on, in which case it just sounds like it needs more memory.

Hey guys, what do you think about 32mb nVidia GeForce 440 MX ? With this GPU I beat all of COD, and it can even play NFS:U pretty smooth.

Heyyyy, I had an MX440! 64MB, but mine was PCI, so even slower!
I only ever really played Worms Armageddon and Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 on that, so I didn't have many performance problems!

There were different versions of AGP 4x depending on how old it is, if you get the one with the wrong voltage, it'll toast the card.
