hi. i have Swap Magic 2.0 USA Build. i was wondering is there anyway to play backup PAL games with this? the cd version has an option for PAL but the dvd version just says insert disc. i've searched this site and google but cannot find anyway to play a pal game. i tried that pal2ntsc patcher but it didn't work. any help is appreciated.

The PAL setting is for NTSC games to PAL. You should get Swap Magic 3.6 Plus which has PAL/NTSC formats.

^yea, that's exactly what i thought. the only problem is i cant find any that are the NTSC version. all are PAL and i cannot use it with the USA Build 2.0. do you have any idea where i can download the NTSC 3.6?

Its included among the files.

Yes here is a guide for hd loader to DVD, but will work for any elf.
I was going to try it out myself to use on my V7 with a fliptop, but ran out of DVD so will do it later tonight when I get home.
Let me know how it goes for you.
Now if you need any of the applications, just go to http://www.sksapps.com/index.php?page=mis.html of click my name to the left and use my rapidshare folder.

Ok here is a couple more swap magic 3.8 elfs. One on DVD and one unpacked and packed elf.

I am still trying to get this too work myself on my PS2 V7, which I need to adjust a bit, and my PS2 slim.
But I found some help on Sk apps forum and also on console exploits.
So check that out if you need help.

edit: i got it working. thanks. but my problem isn't solved yet. i need to play my PAL backups. it gives me the PAL option but it never works. tried with all my backups. none work. anyone got any ideas?

Did you use Adr Patcher to patch your game from PAL to NTSC.
It has worked for me on a few games.

i just tried ADR and it WORKED! but it is not letting me go online. DNAS Error -833. i burned 2 copies. one with NTSC DNA$ and one with PAL DNA$ but neiter worked. do you know how i can fix this?

Oh sorry wasn't following you there. No I don't know how to fix that.
I never play online so have never had the problems.
Maybe start a new thread about patching DNAS ID's and state your backup name that you are trying to get to work online and someone could help you out.

Not sure if I did anything wrong here.
I downloaded and burnt the SM 3.8 DVD to DVD (It was under 700MB so it could have fit on a CD), and I managed to boot it from my SM 3.3 DVD (^_^). But when I try and boot my game, it goes to the PS2 loading game screen and says something like" there is no Data."
Was I supposed to do a TOC Refresh or something?
I am trying to boot GT4 Pal.

EDIT: So I tried to do a TOC Refresh, but when I put a PS2 Demo disc in, the game just keeps on spinning. When I try a backup game for the TOC Refresh, the game spins and stops but still says insert bigger TOC Disc. I am assuming you need an original PS2 Disc for the TOC Refresh or am I wrong?

Yes you need an original PS2 Disc to do a TOC refresh, it has to be bigger than the backup or at least same size that your going to be playing.When the TOC is successfully refreshed, the scrolling
text will tell you to swap your own program.

Can the TOC refresh for SM 3.8 be done on the slimline PS2?
I tried to do a TOC refresh with the SM 3.3 PAL DVD and it just kept on spinning.

You would have to burn this too DVD. I would have to look for a CD version. I know there is one for SM 3.6

I know this must have been posted a million times, but i can't seem to find a guide that lists the steps to accomplish burning a [PAL] copy of Swap magic 3.8
I have an old, chunky PS2 [model no: SCPH-39003] and an original DVD copy of SM 2.0, and my own magic key, and i wish to update to 3.6 or 3.8.
I previously attempted to burn 3.6 to DVD, booting it with my original SM 2.0 but the borders around the screen turned pink (error?) and nothing happened, usually the borders turn blue and the CD boots.
(SM 3.6 DVD ISO from a torrent site, I hadn't read up on using CD_DVD ROM GEN and it was simply burned using DVD Decryptor, stupid now I look back on it, haha)
I have now downloaded 3.8 Coder from a torrent site - the files included in the archive are SYSTEM (53 bytes), SCES_500.03 (4,616,260 bytes) and a MODULE folder with 8 IRX files and IOPRP20.IMG. (423,122 bytes)
Total size: 5,039,435 bytes - seems VERY small to me.. considering the ISO of SM 3.6 was over 1GB in size, possibly already had dummy files? bah..
??Are files missing?? do i need to dump in an ELF file? is SCES_500.03 an ELF? i'm confused.. i have downloaded a SM 3.8 ELF pack from another site, there is a packed & unpacked ELF file - unpkd_SM_DVD3.8.ELF which weighs in at 4,616,260 bytes - the same as SCES_500.03, so i didn't bother replacing anything.
I have created 2 dummy files that take up about 2.62 GB, which makes my Swap Magic 3.8 folder 2,836,194,635 bytes, should they be larger?
Dumped this folder into CD_DVD_ROM_GEN (new project, master disk), edited the Volume>Disc Name to SCES-50003 & set the license area to Europe and exported to IML.
I've converted the .IML to ISO using IML2DVD (1.52)
(Not sure if this is needed but I've always backed up my games this way, down to a habit I suppose)
Load up Daemon Tools, mount the Iso - load up IMGburn/DVD Decryptor and read the virtual drive, saving the ISO & MDS file - i now switch to Write mode, 1x speed and insert my DVD+R media and burn the ISO.
Will this work? As I only have 1 DVD left and can't waste any more money on DVDs at this moment, thanks to anyone who can spot any problems/advice.
