i was hoping someone could give me a few tips here.

there are 2 HDD 1 is 250gb th other is 20gb. windows is installed on the 250gb hdd however it has stopped working. what happens is it gets stuck at the "veryfing DMI pool data" screen. i have taken the hdd out and placed it into another computer as a slave and i can access it but it will not boot directly to windows form the hdd. im guessing its a corupt boot file (if im wrong please let me know)

the question is how do i fix this without formating the hdd?

thanks

Another computer will never be able to boot from a different hard disk, even if it's a working install. The computers need to be identical for that. Does the PC work if you remove the 20GB drive?

i think you misunderstood what i said it will not boot from the other computer i can access it. it comes up as onother drive in "my computer" which means the hdd is not broken which were my initial thoughts. and i have tried removing the 20gb but it is still not working i think it is a corrupt boot file but not sure what i can do.

Nope, I understood. You will usually be able to access a drive from a foreign computer, but not boot to windows off that specific drive, because the installs are setup for different hardware.
If it's a corrupt boot file, all I can suggest is reinstall windows if you don't know which one it is.

This is usually a bios/hardware configuration change type problem. Sometimes moving the hard drives to a different ide cable might fix it.
When the computer starts booting up "press delete" and when your in the bios, the first screen shows your hard drives, press each hard drive so it will reinitialize it.
Check make sure everything is properly seated on your motherboard, move your memory to a different slot.
If the above steps don't work, you might have to clear the bios an let it recognize everything up again.
Also download the demo of "paragon justboot corrector" ,the demo is a good hard drive analyzer. Look at your system partition, make sure it's drive letter is c: . This will rule out a software/boot.ini file problem (but not likely your problem is corrupted files, windows does not get hold of the computer until after the pool data is verified)
Note, reformatting hard drive and reinstalling windows probably won't fix it. If you have to reload windows do it on your 20gb hard drive to test it out.
