I am palning on build my self a computer, I have a VERY low budget, and the total price of the computer (not including the monitor) CANT go over $730(after the Rebate)
This is what I have so far, I know some of the comment will be on the PSU, but I build a very similar system using that PSU and it was totally fine.
So here it is:
Case - Thermaltake Matrix VX VD3000BWA/VD2000BNS $54.99
PSU - Thermaltake TR2 420W Power Supply $57.99
Motherboard - Asus P5K-C $163.99
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 $100 (ebay w/free shipping to Canada + no tax))
RAM - Patriot 2GB Eased Latency $109.99 ( and $40.00 MRB)
Graphics - XFX GeForce 8600GT $139.99
Hard drive - Seagate SATA 3.0Gb/s 160GB $58.99
Optical - (use old one) $FREE
OS - Winows XP/VIsta Premium $FREE (lets just say i have super powers and not question them)
Total: $713.97 (after a 40 rebate from patriot and $-14 because i taxed the ebay price when there is no tax)

I meant to tell you that the only problem i'm having with Vista Premium is driver support from Creative(that's nothing new!!!)Labs.. I've done some extensive research and it seems like everyone, including me, is having problems getting rear surround to work with the latest Soundblaster Xi-Fi Xtreme drivers for Vista 32.. It's weird because my problem only occurs with DVD playback with Windows Media Center and Media Player, the latest audio drivers are hit or miss right now with Windows Vista..

Are 7600GTs cheaper? They're equally fast.

That's a 7600GS, and therefore very slow. Stick with a GT, but try and find a normal model, rather than a special overclocked version.
