i just got a dvd/vhs burner and is says when i get to the end of the first layer of a dl i have to stop the copy process and start the second layer manualy do i have an out dated machine i thought all you have to do is stick the blank dl in and burn an 3 hour movie?

as far as know it uses it's own software granbn
are you trying to make a copy of a copy? Seems like your DVD player/burner doesn't like your disks. the best DL disk out there is Verbatim! if you are using any other DL disk then it's inferior! if your burner acts this way with Verbatim DL disks then it has a problem with any recordible DL disk. Check your manual on what it can play/record! good luck.
