Hey AD visitors...
I have a question. THis actually might not be the right place to ask but I dunno where to ask it...
I would like to take a tv screen and make it into a PC screen..Is that possible? Because I see ads in the advertisemnents that say "PC Input" does it mean that u could use it as a computer screen?
IF so
...would it be complicated to do?
...are there any disadvantages or advantages? (ex.disorted image or bad quality image)
...Would I still be able to watch tv on there???say cable?
THnx for any answers given

Depends on what outputs your video card has. My 61" LCD has a VGA input so I can connect a normal VGA cable to it. My other HDTV doesn't but my Video card had a S-video out and I can also use my other TV as a monitor. Although you have to understand that you won't be getting very high resolutions on a TV, unless it's a 1080p HDTV. My LCD is a 1080p so it's resolution is 1920×1080, but the TV without the VGA input is only 1280x720.

For those of us who aren't millionaires, it's doable, but not recommended. PC monitors give a far sharper picture. Normal TVs do it via S-Video (sometimes tricky to get working, but doable), and HDTVs do it via VGA (easy).

Well it's not like I bought it. My dad likes TVs and well you know it can be fun at times. I was hard to convince him to buy me computer parts, but when the Xbox 360 first came out I asked him to buy me an HDTV because I was gonna have a party and we would also want to play the 360 and he bought me the OTHER TV I was talking about. Not as big, it's only 51 inches but its a good TV.
You see it just depends on the interests of people. My dad loves to watch movies, thats why he has an entire room for that, and thats why he buys TVs.

Well, my PC monitor is an old 17" CRT. See PC parts don't interest him so he wont even buy me a LCD screen.

Hey guys,,,this is actually PetahG(the guy who posted this) but I was banned for a week so I couldn't respond...but all your answers have been really helpful...
In conclusion...
If I get an LCD tv, which has 1080p resolution, will I get the same quality of the display as the PC monitor...or will there still be noticable difference?
yeah u know it1111

I have a 27 inch olevia standard LCD tv hooked up to a PC computer, never had any problems in that configuration. I can use it to play all the latest games (fast 8ms response time). Mostly I just use it to watch/record cable TV (computer has tv tuner card). It's connected to the internet and can be used for that, but it's too bright, and uncomfortable if used for too long. One final drawback, it run's hot. If your close enough you can feel the heat radiate from it. As long as you sit far enough away from it, you'll be ok. You'll probably have to get a wireless mouse and keyboard to get the best expierence.

Big LCDs get hot, they're designed to. Don't worry about it.
As for the quality, it'll be a high resolution, you'll just have to sit a little bit further back from it. Given the nature of TVs you probably will be anyway. The One thing I have to warn you about though, is you'll have to run your games at 1920x1080 for it to look that good. That's quite demanding on your PC's graphics card, so if it's a modern game, you'll need quite a powerful PC to pull it off.

Yes you will, a Geforce 6100 won't be able to run any recent games at that resolution.
You'll need at least a 7600GT, and you may need to upgrade your power supply too.

You COULD get a 720P TV, then of course you wouldn't be able to play at HIGH resolutions but at least your PC will handle it easier.

That is true, but even so, a 6100 can't even handle most gamed at 1280x720.

Actually you said easier lol.
In any case, Integrated Graphics wouldn't have S-Video, so in this case the TV would have to have a VGA port.

yeah i've noticed that my video card isn't good enough for the recent games. Like playing Counters strike...it gets cutty sometimes or age of empires 3..Since were already talking about video cards...
I do have some questions..
Graphics card and video card are the same things?
why would a higher resolution tv have a hard time for a pc?
@ sammoris

Well, the TV wouldn't have a hard time, the PC would have a hard time keeping up if it was anything other than a standard def TV.
As for the power supply, I mean you'll need to buy another Power supply unit.

The bit of the PC you plug into the mains looks something like this inside:

You may need to replace this bit with a better one, depending on which Graphics card you buy.
